Set up your Google Business Profile the right way.
Before review automation can do anything for you, your profile needs a solid foundation. Here's the exact sequence we walk clients through — six steps, in order.
-
Claim and verify the business
Search your business name on Google, claim the listing (or create it if it doesn't exist), and complete Google's verification — usually a postcard, phone call, or email depending on the business type. Nothing else below matters until this is done.
-
Choose the right category
Your primary category is the single biggest factor in which searches you show up for. Pick the most specific accurate option, not the broadest one — "Hair Salon" beats "Beauty Salon" if that's the core service. Add secondary categories for real additional services only.
-
Lock in accurate business info
Hours, service area, phone number, and website link all need to match exactly what's on your site and any other directory listing. Mismatched info across platforms quietly hurts your local search ranking.
-
Add real photos
Cover photo, logo, and at least a handful of interior or work-sample photos. Listings with recent, real photos get meaningfully more clicks than ones using stock images or none at all.
-
Seed your first reviews
Automation needs something to respond to. Before turning it on, ask 5–10 recent happy customers directly for a review — a simple text or email with a direct link works better than a general ask.
-
Connect the profile to review automation
Once the profile is live and verified, we connect it to your automated response workflow: 4–5 star reviews get answered in your voice automatically, and anything 3 stars or below is held for your sign-off first.
